The causes of post partum depression could be hormonal changes. Sometimes the hormonal changes in a woman's body may trigger some symptoms. The amount of the two female hormones estrogen and progesterone increase greatly during pregnancy in a woman's body. During the first 24 hours after childbirth, these amounts decrease rapidly and keep dropping till it reaches the normal level. Apart from these biological changes, numerous physical, psychological and environmental factors also contribute to postpartum depression such as fatigue, broken sleeping patterns, insufficient rest etc.

There are various breakthroughs in medical sciences dedicated to the mental healthcare of young mothers. The most common treatment for depression is the use of antidepressant medication, psychotherapy or a combination of the two. The treatment depends on the nature and severity of the depression and to some extent on the individual preference. In severe cases medication is generally recommended under the supervision of a psychiatrist.

It is necessary to help young mothers cope with postpartum depression. It is to be borne in mind that everything cannot be done single handedly by the young mother. She should get sufficient rest when the baby sleeps. Friends, relatives or spouse can be solicited to assist in housework, baby care and cooking. The young mother should find time for herself and the spouse. One need not be guilty if the medications make it impossible to breastfeed the baby. A good mother is the one who takes care of herself so that she is able to take care of the baby. When the baby starts to have regular sleep during night, it is time to think about the mother's diet and exercise program to aid her get back into shape. Exercise and proper diet will improve the mood and give a boost to the self esteem as well. Breastfeeding will help to jump start on shedding the baby weight.

Fetter Project
Hageman 16-34HR well: The Hageman well has recently reached total depth in the targeted Frontier formation and the drilling rig has been removed from the well site. Sidetracking operations in the Frontier, undertaken to maximize the intersection of naturally occurring fracture systems, resulted in three horizontal laterals totaling over 5,200 cumulative feet of lateral well bore, all of which was drilled in zone and will be opened up for production. Completion activities are underway and after completion, the well is expected to be immediately placed on production.
Wallis 6-23 well: The Wallis well has recently been drilled to a total depth of 13,000 feet. The drilling rig has been removed from the well site and completion operations have commenced. The Wallis well is the first vertical well to be drilled by American and partners in the Fetter project and is designed to test multiple prospective formations utilizing multi-stage frac technology. To date, the well has been completed and fracture stimulated in the Dakota formation, the deepest formation of interest in the well. As planned, the Dakota has been temporarily isolated below a cast iron bridge plug allowing completion operations to move up hole. Additional formations, including the Frontier, are prospective in the well. Upon completion and preliminary evaluation of these formations, the Dakota and our other zones of interest will be commingled, tested, and placed on production.

Election 2008 - Put your money on Edwards

There are many prominent candidates in the 2008 election. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Rudy Guliani, John McCain and Mitt Romney are all fighting for not only their parties nominations but also the white house. Who will win? I’ll give you a clue: I did not list the candidate I expect to be our 44th president. Any ideas? It is John Edwards. Now before you roll your eyes and scoff, read this argument. Most people I tell this to think I am completely stupid, until they hear my reasoning.
First, lets examine the fight for the Democratic nomination. The major candidates are Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards. Currently, Hillary Clinton is the front runner. She has broad support across the nation, which is nice, except that you will begin to see that deteriorate because Edwards will start to gain ground in the south and Obama will clash with Clinton in the north over delegates and donations that they both want. Furthermore, Edwards has a strong base of support in the first primary states, IA, SC, NH, NV, FL. So, as Obama and Clinton divide votes between themselves, Edwards will score wins in early states.
Don’t get me wrong, the idea of John Edwards winning the nomination is not bad for the Democrats. The last ticket to win for the Democrats (Clinton Gore) was all southern. (Obama and Clinton are from northern states). Barack Obama may be able to get more African American voters, but 90% of all African Americans vote with the Democrats anyway! Hillary Clinton has very high disapproval ratings, so she will have a hard time convincing Independents to vote with her. John Edwards is from North Carolina (A southern state), was from a humble background, he is white, openly Christian and has a positive image.
So, we have determined that he will be able to win the Democratic nomination, but what about the general election? Well, quite honestly, the Republican field seems to hold quantity over quality. Rudy Guliani’s wives (not to mention his kids that don’t talk to him), Mitt Romney’s Mormonism, John McCain’s age and position on the War in Iraq and Immigration and the fact that Fred Thompson gave his wife divorce papers, while in the hospital fighting breast cancer. These candidates seem to encourage the reputation of “corrupt conservatives.” John Edwards has a strong marriage, and is in touch with the common American, unlike Romney and McCain.

American Idol or American Bully

These past few weeks on American Idol they have been auditioning singer from all around the country in search of the lucky finalist who will have the awesome opportunity to go to Hollywood. I have watched many of the early tryouts and have heard some great and not so great singers. My hat is off to these people who spend days in a long line hoping to ultimately perform for the three celebrity judges.
I like to hear the many stories they share of people who have met new friends while waiting in line for the big chance. One story in particular was about two young men pumped up, excited, supporting one another and ready to demonstrate their originality to the judges only to be voted down, joining the long list of others who have failed to make the grade. The difference between these two individuals and the others who have met the same fate is that they were not only told they would not be going to Hollywood but they were also laughed at and teased.
I understand that not everyone can win. If everyone won there would be no definition for losers. If everyone won there would be no room for improvement and growth. American Idol’s Simon Cowell crossed the line when he told the contestant he “looked like a monkey.” To make matters worse the two other judges Randy and Paula just gigged and laughed like children supporting a bully on a playground. Judges like referees have to have the freedom to make the calls to keep the game interesting. Not every call or opinion is to everyone’s liking but to say something like that is crossing the line.
Each week I present my Anti-bullying/Anti-violence programs to hundreds of students, corporate staff and associations. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that coming to terms with what Rem Koolhaas has termed the "glocal" is the most pressing issue for curators today, at least to the extent that success at integrating one's local realities with those of the world at large is fast becoming the only sure way to maintain a community's standing in the race for global relevance.

Malaysian pop singer Faizal Tahir has apologised for causing offence by tearing off his shirt during a televised concert. Mr Tahir’s record label said he will undertake community service to make up for any offence caused. [BBC]
The former One in a Million contestants was performing at a concert in Bandar Utama to celebrate the birthday of 8TV. He took off his jacket, singlet and belt and threw them to the audience of about 8,000 people during the show, which was broadcast live on the TV channel.
I am not here to argue if the rule is stupid or not. Some people might say that Malaysians are being too conservative, which is true… but being conservative is not necessary a bad thing.
Besides, it’s not like the audiences or TV viewers are expecting the stripping act… if we are attending a Beyonce or Pussycat Dolls’ concert we might be ready for something fleshy; most people however would not have expected that on this 8TV concert, and it’s understandable that some people might take offense.
On side note, it’s useless for Faizal to apologise now. It was not a random act… he pre-planned the whole thing even before he was on stage (he admitted that); he was ready to break the rules.
Thing is, if he wants to apologise now, why doing it at the first place?

No Rule Set on Stone

The simple fact in life remains, that is, everything in life is changing and the only the thing that seems to be constant is change, well not quite, include the interpretation of laws, particularly laws on personal injuries. They say laws are appreciated in a different light and point of view dependent on the facts and circumstances in a particular case. True, laws are no good without any issue for it to be utilized. This is where law in its pure form can be made in as complex a state as it could possibly be. Although there is a system of law known as jurisprudence, which is the adoption of a court’s previous ruling if the facts concerning the previous litigation actually relates to the same factual background as what is talked about in the case at the hand, there is no hard and fast rule that the same ruling would actually be adopted.
A case in point would be in a personal injury case. One case held as a rule, that in an accident accosted in an intersection, the person who has the right of way in consonance with the signal of the traffic light at the time of the impact has the ample right which must be upheld. In another case, meanwhile, it was ruled that despite the right of way of defendant, which was determined at the time of impact on the basis of the signal of the traffic light, he was still held as guilty for contributory negligence. He was asked to pay damages because he has the last clear chance to avoid the accident, which he failed to do. In this case, it was held that although defendant has indeed the clear right of way, he saw the plaintiff way before the accident happened, and if only he exercised proper prudence under the circumstances then the accident could have been avoided.

As if our fearless leaders in Washington don’t have enough to fret about, now Deborah Jeane Palfrey, a madam accused of running a prostitution business has, as part of her defense, vowed to make her list of clients public. Worse yet, she has begun to do so.

First on the roster was the high-ranking military strategist who coined the lamentable catchphrase “shock and awe.” He was so shocked and awed he resigned.

Dick Morris, the dapper and devious former advisor to Bill Clinton, made the hit list and quickly persuaded his lawyer to deny, deny, deny.

Then came Randall Tobias, the affable but suddenly shamed head of the Bush administration's foreign aid programs. He also resigned, and the madam was so touched she felt obliged to express her apologies.

How many more cowering gentlemen will be named?

Apparently, Deborah and her lawyers believe that the more careers they destroy, the more likely she is to evade a sentence that might prove excessive.

Prompted by the failure of her flawed assumption, she is on the verge of making her entire stock of names public.

In just the last few years the world has watched actress Angelina Jolie go through a baby boom with the adoption of her children Maddox and Zahara and the birth of baby Shiloh. Red, of course, remains the color of choice for most people, especially men, but other colors are catching on. 62 percent of the women who responded to the SAF survey indicated they prefer other colors, such as yellow, pink, peach, and white. Some of the newer colors like lavender and orange, are also becoming favorites.

The new color varieties have resulted in the common colors of red, pink, yellow, and white becoming entire color families consisting of shades from light muted colors to vibrant, bright colors. Reds now include every shade from bright raspberry to orange-reds to dark, rich reds. Pink is no longer just the traditional light pink commonly seen in bridal bouquets; it's now the light pastel pink to the hot pink, and everything in between. The pink family also contains hues like peach, apricot, oral, and lavender. Yellow includes lemony-yellow, gold, and two-toned blooms. It has become the second most popular color choice among men. Even white isn't just white; this color family now includes bright white, ivory, and champagne.

Dropping wholesale gas prices not reflected at the pump

Although wholesale gasoline prices have dropped sharply in the Los Angeles market recently, drivers aren't seeing that fully reflected at the pumps.
The wholesale gasoline price in Los Angeles hovered around $2.17 a gallon Friday. Add taxes and other costs, and that would mean a retail price of about $2.77 a gallon.
Yet service stations in the city were charging an average of $3.22 a gallon for self-serve regular Monday.
"The California economy has been penalized by high gas prices for months, and now, when the opportunity comes for a brief window of significantly lower prices, the workings of the market are being frustrated," said energy economist Philip K. Verleger Jr. "The people who own refineries are doing everything they can to prevent (declining wholesale prices) from trickling down to the consumer."
Joseph Sparano, president of the industry trade group Western States Petroleum Assn., acknowledged that "there seems to be a pretty wide gap between wholesale and retail" gasoline prices. But he said that retail prices have begun to come down and the market is working as it should.
"When supply is up and demand is down, the market will seek an outlet so that they come back in balance," Sparano said.
A stockpile of gasoline and diesel fuel on the West Coast is one of the reasons for dropping wholesale prices. The region's 34-million barrels is up more than 20 percent since November.
This comes as demand continues to slump, experts say.
Recent rainy weather in California has kept people off the road in state where residents already have been cutting back on gasoline consumption for more than a year, according to Lynn Westfall, chief economist at San Antonio-based Tesoro Corp., one of California's big refiners.
Meanwhile, drivers are ready for a break.
"It would be nice if we could get under $3," Erika Samora said as she paid $3.179 per gallon on Friday. "All I asked for for Christmas was gas cards."

Oil and gas are some of the most important sources of energy on the planet and their availability is an immense factor as far as economic conditions are concerned. Oil represents about 40% of the globe’s entire primary energy demand, while natural gas is beginning to have more and more uses, although its utilization has not met quite optimal considerations in the past.

The general estimation is that the recoverable oil underneath the earth surface is of 2,330 billion barrels. An oil and gas study (Peack Oil by Colin Campbel, 1999) shows that out of the amount mentioned before, up to 90% labeled as discovered and approximately 50% produced. The same study shows that, today, the world consume reaches 4 barrels for each new one discovered.

This means that there is a production of about 22 barrels per year, while only six enter the area of those discovered. It is thus obvious that there is quite a big gap between consumption and discovery and that this gap is continuously widening as oil turns from a surplus to a deficit status.

A later study mentions that if the report between productions and consuming remains the same, there might be resources for only another one hundred years left. The major oil and gas reserve locates in the Middle East and it represents about 65%. It is thus apparent that the distribution is not quite equitable and that consumption and production have a large gap separating them. Research has shown that North America, Far East, Oceania and Western Europe are the biggest consumers of oil, using about 77% of which they only produce 44.4% representing only 12.5% of the world’s reserves. On the other hand, the Middle East generates 30% of the world’s reserves and consumes only 6%.

There are a number of organizations formed in order to protect the exploitation of oil and natural gas. These organizations have as one of their main prerogatives to keep the influence of gas and oil under control as far as economical conditions are concerned.

Natural gas started to become more important as soon as the concerns about the diminishing amount of energy reserves have increased. These concerns as well as the ones regarding environmental hazards are putting more and more pressure on industries required to use a higher percentage of natural gas instead of using other sources of energy.

In order to make this official and to guarantee the compliance with its requirements, the legislation introduced developed at an international level. These new laws should control the operators. Election 2008 - Put your money on Edwards

There are many prominent candidates in the 2008 election. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Rudy Guliani, John McCain and Mitt Romney are all fighting for not only their parties nominations but also the white house. Who will win? I’ll give you a clue: I did not list the candidate I expect to be our 44th president. Any ideas? It is John Edwards. Now before you roll your eyes and scoff, read this argument. Most people I tell this to think I am completely stupid, until they hear my reasoning.

First, lets examine the fight for the Democratic nomination. The major candidates are Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards. Currently, Hillary Clinton is the front runner. She has broad support across the nation, which is nice, except that you will begin to see that deteriorate because Edwards will start to gain ground in the south and Obama will clash with Clinton in the north over delegates and donations that they both want. Furthermore, Edwards has a strong base of support in the first primary states, IA, SC, NH, NV, FL. So, as Obama and Clinton divide votes between themselves, Edwards will score wins in early states.

Don’t get me wrong, the idea of John Edwards winning the nomination is not bad for the Democrats. The last ticket to win for the Democrats (Clinton Gore) was all southern. (Obama and Clinton are from northern states). Barack Obama may be able to get more African American voters, but 90% of all African Americans vote with the Democrats anyway! Hillary Clinton has very high disapproval ratings, so she will have a hard time convincing Independents to vote with her. John Edwards is from North Carolina (A southern state), was from a humble background, he is white, openly Christian and has a positive image.

So, we have determined that he will be able to win the Democratic nomination, but what about the general election? Well, quite honestly, the Republican field seems to hold quantity over quality. Rudy Guliani’s wives (not to mention his kids that don’t talk to him), Mitt Romney’s Mormonism, John McCain’s age and position on the War in Iraq and Immigration and the fact that Fred Thompson gave his wife divorce papers, while in the hospital fighting breast cancer. These candidates seem to encourage the reputation of “corrupt conservatives.” John Edwards has a strong marriage, and is in touch with the common American, unlike Romney and McCain.

A Cat's Amazing Whiskers

Have you ever experienced the tickle from one of your cat’s whiskers as they brush against your face or neck? I have been tickled on many occasions from each of my cat’s as they rub up against me for attention or curling up on my shoulder to go to sleep. I never really thought about what they use their whiskers for, all I really knew is that they tickled me a lot.

Besides giving each cat their own unique distinction, whiskers are a functional part of a cat. Whiskers are a sensory system for cats made up of nerve endings that allow them to feel the lightest touch, even an air current.

Cats are known to be farsighted and they will use their whiskers to move around in those areas that they are not able to see clearly. Even cats that are blind or their vision is deteriorating will rely more on their whiskers to move about. Cats that are born with their vision impaired will often have longer whiskers to help them move around. If a cat were to lose their whiskers, they would more than likely bump into things.

You also can tell the mood of your cat from their whiskers. When your cat is calm you will see that their whiskers will be pushed forward. And if your cat is stressed out or is being defensive their whiskers will be pulled closer to their face.

If you have more than one cat, have you noticed that the whiskers of each of them are not the same? The length of a cat’s whiskers even varies between breeds. I currently have three cats and have noticed that each one has whiskers that are different in length to the others. I have also noticed that Tiggy my oldest cat has a few whiskers that are not all white, but have some black in them. While the other two, Leena and Cooper, have whiskers that are all white.

Most of us see the cat’s whiskers above their eyes and around their mouth, also called muzzle. But did you know that they also have whiskers on the back of their front legs or what would be considered their wrists. I never knew that, but after I read about it, I looked on mine and they have them. They are not as long as the whiskers on their face, but they have them. Whiskers do get very long and some people are tempted to trim them thinking that they should be to help the cat. But whiskers are never to be trimmed, cut, or any other method of removing them.

The cats do have nerve endings in the whiskers and they will feel the trimming and it will not be pleasant for them. Have you ever touched one of the whiskers on your cat’s face? Did you notice them blink or twitch? It is because their whiskers are very sensitive and should be treated with care. Whiskers can be ticklish when applied to us in the right fashion, and they are a very distinctive characteristic on a cat. Parabens have been used as preservatives since the early 1920s, and are utilised in preventing the growth of bacteria. They are used in a wide range of consumer products, especially in cosmetics, including skin care products, shampoos and conditioners, facial and body cosmetics, sun screens, underarm products and soaps.

Just have a look in your bathroom cabinet and see how many products contain ingredients such as methyl-, propyl-, butyl- or ethyl-paraben or ingredients such as p-hydroxynenzoate (PHB) esters. However, little scientific information exists on whether the use of products with low levels of parabens over many years results in an accumulation of parabens in body tissues and whether there are or are not any health issues associated with the use of consumer products including parabens.

A study first published in 2004 (Darbre, in the Journal of Applied Toxicology) detected parabens in breast tumours. However, the study was inconclusive failing to answer many of the questions raised. By way of example, this study did not demonstrate that parabens caused cancer, or even that they were harmful. In fact, the study did not review the possible levels of parabens in normal tissue. But although parabens are not yet proven to be a danger to health, at a time when you are pregnant do you want to take any risk that is avoidable? Would you really be prepared to take that chance unless you were 100% certain that there were no harmful effects?

For many women, the answer is no and so they are changing their skin care regimes and choice of cosmetics to products that do not contain parabens as preservatives. This is often a decision made on the grounds that 'avoidance is the best strategy'. While the scientific jury is still out on the safety or otherwise of parabens, who can argue with that philosophy? The best advice is to be aware of the issue, carefully read the list of ingredients on any product that you put on your skin, look at the alternatives that are available, and then make an informed choice.

Comeback of the Mustache? I Don't Think So

There is an ugly rumor circulating about the return of the 1970s mustache-wearing male finding his way to the 21st century. Is this a backlash to the metrosexual era? Is this a way for the "regular guy" to reclaim his masculinity? Is this a way of making food stuck to a man's face acceptable?

As a single woman, I strongly object to this horrific trend.

I'm not going to throw around careless accusations against facial hair. That just wouldn’t be right. Rather, my approach will be fair and balanced. You know, the reporting style made famous by Fox News.

For starters, the mustache reminds me of 1970s porn. As a kid, I wasn't always able to recognize the vital body parts through the scrambled Playboy Channel, but I could always tell if the man was wearing a mustache. Not a sexy scene, my friends.

Sticking with the 1970s theme, my father sported a mustache back then, and I don't want to date a man that resembles him. That's taking the Father Complex theory way too far. Most importantly, I have very sensitive skin. In fact, so sensitive that I once went out on a date with a man that had facial hair and after three hours of lip smacking, my skin became so irritated that I developed a rash. Sure, you can make the argument that the rash was due to the marathon-long make-out session, not the mustache per se, but this isn’t a time to be logical. Let's keep the focus of this post where it belongs, on the ill-conceived return of the mustache.

I'm not prejudiced; I'm against all mustaches.

Pencil mustache? No way. It reminds me of John Waters.

The toothbrush? Um, no. Charlie Chaplin donned that one for a reason: it's funny-looking.

Horseshoe-style mustache? Nice try. Hulk Hogan can get away with it is because wrestlers are cartoon-like.

Magnum, P. I. mustache? Oh, now you're playing dirty (I like that), but chances are you don't look like Tom Selleck. Psssssst. If you share his rugged good looks, e-mail me your digits.

Guys, take it from me. I won't steer you wrong. There is a reason the mustache trend died a slow death. Here's a hint: men aren't supposed to be walking buffets, able to select from an assortment of late-night snacks trapped in their hippielips.

The Federal Work-Study Program makes part-time jobs available for both undergraduate and graduate students with qualifying financial need. Students might work on campus or off, honing in on a career in a job related to your major, or testing out a new career path by stepping into a position completely different from anything they’ve done before. Sitting in the back of your family's station wagon as a kid, your father pulls up to the gas pump and a station attendant—an occupation about as extinct as the dinosaurs—came running out with a rag in his hand, leaned into the driver's window and said… "Diesel or unleaded?" Those days are long gone. And I'm not just referring to the attendant. Nowadays, at least in the U.S., you can expect to find three things at a gas pump: self-serve, pay first, and unleaded gasoline only. Misconceptions about diesel fuel being "dirtier" than unleaded gas several years ago ultimately led to diesel's obsolescence in the more environmentally progressive United States. Car companies began to manufacture cars that, for the most part, ran on traditional gasoline. In response, however, steps were taken to improve the cleanliness of diesel and now major car companies have begun to sell diesel-powered vehicles to consumers once again. In the past, especially in the United States, diesel fuel was considerably dirtier than unleaded gasoline. Vehicles in the United States also tended to be built for traditional gasoline, with the exception of large trucks, buses, and semis. In recent years, however, steps have been taken to improve the cleanliness of diesel fuel through regulation, and many companies have begun selling popular consumer cars that run on diesel fuel. One such company is Isuzu Motors, known for its popular 5-passenger Ascender SUV, and two models of high-performing pick up trucks (the i-290 and i-370). Isuzu's diesel engines have won a laundry list of awards in past years including "Truck of the Year" by Motor Trend Magazine, "Executive Diesel Car of the Year 2002" by Diesel Car Magazine (a publication in the U.K.), "Germany's best small and compact car of the Year 2001" by Mot Magazine (published in Germany), as well as having been named multiple times by Ward's Communications of the U.S. as one of the "10 Best Engines." In addition, Isuzu vehicles were voted the top medium-duty truck brand six times in seven years by truck dealers. Impressive, but not fully convinced that diesel's better? Keep reading… Diesel fuel actually burns more efficiently than gasoline, thus having a better fuel economy—about 30% more efficient on average. Why? Diesel is denser than its unleaded competitor. Proponents of gasoline are quick to point out that diesel engines produce more greenhouse emissions, which is true, emissions with diesel are about 15% higher than those of traditional unleaded gas due to higher volumetric energy density. However, the increased fuel efficiency more than offsets the higher percentage, so in the long run, diesels produce less emissions— 15% more per gallon used, but a trip in the good ole family car will use 30% less fuel to get to wherever you're going. Granted, this wasn't the case with Dad's old wagon. Back then, before the anti-diesel crusade, diesel engines were creating more emissions because they simply weren't efficient. Now, with the modern diesel engine achieving a 20- 40% better fuel economy, it's time to give diesel a second look. But that's not the only exciting news about diesel. Originally, the diesel engine was created as a way to run vehicles using vegetable oils. While farmers originally couldn't compete with big oil companies, with gas prices soaring, there's been a renewed interest in alternative fuel sources—and food-based diesel fuels can be produced quickly, cheaply, and with the abundance of products grown in our very own country. These "hybrid diesels" also known as "biodiesel" are compatible with existing diesel engines and can also be made from waste oils gathered from restaurants or homes—an alternative that serves several ecological benefits at the same time.
